RANCH RODEO RULES 2005-2006 (Revised August, 2005) EACH EVENT HAS A 3 PERSON TEAM Listen to announcements on Rodeo day for changes!!!!!!!! GENERAL - Each team must compete in all 4 events. Each team must have a woman or youth. 1. Time Limits: 2 minutes for all events. A 30 sec warning will be given. 2. Cattle will be behind a line approximately 60 ft. from the end of the arena. 3. Time begins when the first team member crosses the line or first rider enters the gate in sorting. 4. Please read the rules. For info Call 334-541-5977 or raftersbar@aol.com 5. Judges decision is final. No roughing of the cattle, such as dragging by one leg or running over the cattle. 6. No unsportsmanlike conduct or foul language. 7. Judge's decision is final. 8. Points for one rodeo will be dropped at 5 rodeos; points for two rodeos will be dropped at 12 rodeos. TEAM BRANDING - All team members do not have to be mounted. 1. A group of numbered cattle will be held at the end of the arena. A designated number is brought to the circle to be branded. The first team member to pick uo the branding iron is the brander. 2. Branding iron must be in the hand of the brander at the time of branding. No throwing of the branding iron. 3. If branding does not occur in the circle there will be a 30 sec penalty. TEAM PENNING 1. A group of numbered cattle (3 of each number) will be held behind the line. 2. As riders approach the line a number is called. The team must cross the line immediately. If the team stops before crossing the line to look for cattle the time will start. 3. More than 5 head of cattle across the line will result in NO TIME. (6 across is a no time) 4. The team must sort out the designated 3 head and pen at end of arena. If more than 3 head are penned or any are penned with the wrong numbers when gate is latched there will be a NO TIME. 5. Time ends when gate is closed and latched. Strays must be on cattle side of line and all riders are on pen side of foul line. All riders do not have to be in the pen when gate is closed. 6. Team with fastest time and most correctly numbered calves penned wins. Team may latch gate on 1, 2 or 3. RANCH SORTING 1. A group of numbered cattle will be in a pen with a gate. 2. Cattle are sorted through the gate. The designated number must be the first head through. Then the next consecutive number and so on, until all cattle are through the gate or until time is called. 3. If a stray goes through the gate before its turn, time ends and team receives a 2 minute penalty.
4. The team that pushes the most cattle through correctly within the time limit wins. If more than one team gets them all sorted, then the team with the fastest time wins. TRAILER LOADING 1. A group of numbered cattle will be at end of arena. A trailer will be parked near fence with gate open and two moveable panels. 2. A number will be called. Team must sort out proper number and load on trailer. More than one head may be loaded but must be sorted out. 3. Once proper number is loaded two horses are loaded and gate is closed and latched. Time stops. ALL AROUND TEAM 1. The team with the fastest time in each event will be awarded first place money in each event. 2. Teams will earn points in each completed event. A team must log a time in each event to be eligible for the all around. 3. In case of a tie it will be resolved as follows: 1st. Team receiving most points in the sorting. If a tie still exists it will be determined by branding, gathering and penning in that order. 4. If four events are not completed then the all around will be the team with points in three events and so on. Tie it will be resolved as above. 5. TOP HAND Awards will be given to the cowboy, cowgirl and youth with the most points for the season. AMATEUR TOP HAND will be the rider with the most points for the season that has not won money in the 2003, 2004 or 2005 Ranch Rodeo season. Tie will go to the rider with the most points in sorting and then branding if needed. A rider must be a cardholder to be eligible for all Top Hand awards. Points begin to count at time card is paid.
